April 2010

Jude has been working again on his Reward workbook. He's been doing great. I am amazed how his math skills are improving just by living life and finding out you need certain skills in general. Every veteran unschooler I have spoken with has said "it would just come" and they were so right!

We are all loving "Life" on Discovery! It is such a great educational show! Chad's Physics instructor at his college sent home some experiments for Jude and Chad to do together! How awesome!

Jude has been helping cooking again! He loves to cook and make recipes too. He's been making boxed items like instant potatoes, mac n cheese and things like that.

There is no way I could begin to blog about all the questions Jude asks! I would spend all day on the computer!

Spring has been such a wonderful inspiration for our family. Finally we are able to be outside with Lainey! We've been taking family walks/bike rides. On one nature walk Jude found a tree with evidence of termites and he took pictures of it and the seed pods so he could look it up to identify what kind of tree it was! He also found an interesting tiny red bug. I wrote down details and we looked bugs up online to find out what it was. It turned out to be a red velvet mite which is an arachnid and is sometimes used as a natural combative for locust infestations. They are parasites and the young are small enough to live on the locusts and will kill the locusts. Nature is amazing! He also spotted ants, squirrel nests, flowers and spring onions. We also watched the Marietta Crew launch their boats for a race and watched them row for a bit.
We bought two snails to be companions to our beta fish we've had for a while. They are very entertaining! Sounds silly but they crack us all up! We've been doing research online about them too!
The nature walk wore her out this day... even though she rode in her wheelchair :)

This snail is crawling up the center post! One snail is named Stripes and the other is Shelby.

Beta-Beta checking out the new buddies!

High climbing Jude!

Marietta Crew.

Sweet Jude always finds flowers for Mommy.

The termite evidence. Jude looked up and found that it was a Sycamore tree.

We just finished up before it got too hot! She's not to be in the sun often because of the overheating threat but she sure loves when she can be!

Easter at Papaw's house. Such big kids!
We found this toad wanted to have this Easter egg all to himself! So cute!

Jude found his Easter basket.

Lainey loves the bag! :)

Caught Lainey mid-stride walking Easter morning! She is amazing!

After draining our homemade butter.

It just turned to butter!

Pouring in the cream to make butter for the first time. And it was DELICIOUS!!! We will be making more for sure!!

The Triceratops on the stand.
