May 2010

What a busy month! Dr's appts all around! My dad had skin cancer removed and quite a bit of reconstruction done as well. He is healing well. Jude has been asking a lot of questions about the surgery and cancer. Chad's mom had quad bi-pass and Jude has been studying about what that means. Lainey will be having a spinal surgery but we are hoping to be able to hold of for about a year.

Jude has just recently decided to start reading chapter books again. He had not shown interest in reading for a bit so we were happy he started back at it! He's been working here and there on the "reward" workbook too.

Jude has been watching "Modern Marvels" on the history channel. It inspires him to look up more info online about the topics. He's still showing interest in maps and our country as well.

Lainey was ill again this month. However, on the bright side, she did choose to eat some baby food while she was recovering!!! She's now back to just pediasure but I love to see her trying :) She has been walking all over the place too! If she has her tennis shoes on she will walk in public a little now! She's almost 60 lbs now so it's getting more difficult to carry her all the time. She has been lovin' playing "the pick-up game" with Jude. She will drop anything off the couch while sitting beside Jude (if she doesn't have anything she will take off her sock!). Then she looks down at the item and up at Jude, he snatches it up quickly and she just rolls with laughter, which of course makes Jude giggle. It almost makes us cry every time, so sweet.

While we were at Riverside Methodist Hospital (Grandma's surgery) Jude and I explored the 1st floor. He lead the way and we found tons of neat things. This was a small "break" area between some buildings. It was lovely.
Lainey LOVED the giant window at the hotel by Riverside Hospital. Our room was huge and she and Jude had tons of room to play around. We had a bed against a wall and it was the first time Lainey has ever slept in a bed not being her special bed we built(I was on the outer side to keep her from falling). It wasn't so pleasant for her. She would wake up afraid and I was laying beside her and touched her to comfort her which frightened her even more that someone was touching her in the middle of the night! lol

Exploring the school bus!

Jude was building with wooden shapes. He would make four "buildings" and would point to each and I would rate them. He used colored counting blocks as a rating system. The last few he made a rainbow stack and said that would be the best rating possible!
Jude has had wooden tracks for a long time but we found the T shape and track switchers at a yard sale for $2! He was so excited he said "Oh my goodness! Those are usually about $15 at the store, we are saving $13!" And he says he can't do math! Pish-posh! :)
